Ladies and Gentlemen….I am pleased to introduce the 2008 Memorial Day Washenko Cup winners: Mark and Mike Bedard, aka the Bedard Brothers. After a grueling 2 hour tournament, the finalists were the Bedard Brothers and Bob Vaillencourt teaming with newcomer Dave Kinney Sr. Bob and Dave took out sleepers Marion and Carolyn in the semi-finals to move on, but it was a close match. Upset of the day: Guy and Gino fall to Lil and Denise in the first round (but managed to sneak into the quarterfinals via the wildcard). At the end of the day, though, first seeded Mark and Mike proved their dominance and washer control, using both the standard technique and the long-fabled “Crouching Tiger” technique to secure their victory. It was back and forth in the final matchup with Mark tying the game at 21 when the H was O to force an overtime. One of the best matches of the decade.

Congratulations to the winners, and to everyone else: better luck next year.
